Download Luminar 4 For Windows 10 For Free

Luminar 4 is a non-destructive RAW editor with a wide variety of features for picture development. The RAW conversion engine gives you a fantastic starting point for your photographs, and most changes are quick and fast. A totally configurable workflow may significantly simplify your editing process, allowing you to focus on what your photographs require to look their best. Features Of Luminar 4

Skylum has set a year-long schedule of upgrades for both versions of the program, which strikes me as odd. It’s the kind of thing you’d expect to see when presenting new features for subscription-based software,

and it’s a little uncomfortable for fundamental, necessary elements of a one-time-purchase product. If they wish to integrate important organizational features like metadata search or a Lightroom transfer tool, they should make them accessible at the time of purchase rather than making users wait up to a year.

Organize Your Images Library - Luminar 4 - Organize Your Images Library – Luminar 4 – Organize Your Images Library

The Library function for organizing your photographs is one of the most intriguing features of Luminar version 3. This was a huge feature gap in prior Luminar editions, so it’s nice to see Skylum responding to user feedback. Even in version Luminar 4, though, the Library feature has a lot to be desired. Even though they are still on the updated plan, promised improvements like metadata searches and IPTC metadata compatibility have not been implemented.

Luminar employs a catalog structure similar to Lightroom, in which all of your photographs remain in their original folders on your computer, and a separate catalog file organizes all of your flags, ratings, and edits. You may color-code your photographs, assign star ratings to them, and utilize basic flags to approve or reject them.

Has Fantastic Interface - Luminar 4 - Fantastic Interface – Luminar 4 – Fantastic Interface

When in single picture preview mode, a filmstrip of the current folder appears on the left, taking full use of widescreen monitor ratios. The filmstrip’s size cannot be changed, but it may be concealed, along with the Looks panel at the bottom. If you previously used another library management program for flags and ratings, none of those settings will be transferred with your photographs.

IPTC information isn’t currently supported, and you can’t add custom tags to your photographs. There’s also no way to save your changes to a separate sidecar file for moving to another machine. The only way to sort photographs is through the Albums function, and each Album must be manually created. Ideally, albums should be created automatically based on shared criteria, such as ‘All 18mm Images’ or ‘All Images Captured July 14 2018′, but for the time being, you’ll have to rely on dragging and dropping manually.

Working With Images

In contrast to the Library section, Luminar’s core RAW editing features are excellent. The whole editing process is non-destructive, and it includes all of the tools you’d expect to find in a professional RAW editor, as well as Accent AI Filter and AI Sky Enhancer, two unique AI-powered tools.

The editing tools in Luminar are no longer called viewed as ‘filters,’ which was confusing. Instead, the different adjustment options are divided into four categories: Essentials, Creative, Portrait, and Professional. Although it would be wonderful to be able to tweak this component of the layout, it functions better than the prior filters and workspaces setting.

Luminar’s changes, whatever you name them, are great. When you’ve found the ideal mix of settings, you can store it as a ‘Look,’ Luminar’s term for a preset. Looks may be applied to any of your photographs easily using the Looks panel, but they can also be applied to a group of images at the same time during batch processing.

Clone & Stamp was the only tool that I found difficult to use. The tool is loaded in its own workspace and takes an unusually long time to load on both versions of the program. It’s quite snappy while you’re editing, however, all of your clone and stamp strokes are applied as a single motion.

Support Powerful AI Featuers - Luminar 4 - Powerful AI Features – Luminar 4 – Powerful AI Features

Artificial intelligence has recently been a buzzword in the software industry. Every developer promises dramatic improvements in the way their program functions as a result of some “AI-powered” feature, generally without providing any more explanation of how AI is employed.

Skylum doesn’t clarify how AI is employed in their automated editing tools, but my hunch is that it uses some kind of machine learning approach to determine which portions of a photo may benefit from certain adjustments. In most circumstances, notably landscapes and other large vistas, the automated changes do a good job of enhancing local contrast and improving saturation.

The AI Enhance tool performs admirably, however it does struggle with certain intricate designs. This is an improvement over earlier versions, but you can also create your own mask now. The added level of customization is fantastic unless you intend to utilize both AI Enhance and AI Sky Enhancer, in which case you can only apply one mask to both settings.

The AI Sky Replacement tool, which can be found in the ‘Creative’ panel, is another new AI function in version 4.1. While I would never use this in any of my images (it’s essentially photography cheating), it’s still an absolutely astounding piece of technology. I was able to completely change the sky in the photo of Common Loons displayed earlier in the Library portion of this review in approximately 2 seconds.

Serious photographers would only utilize automated adjustments as a starting point for their edit workflow, but it may give a solid rapid foundation from which to work. If you’re a wedding or event photographer who captures hundreds or thousands of shots of every event, it’s a terrific method to rapidly enhance all of your photos before focusing on a few essential images for more in-depth consideration.

Batch Editing

Luminar 4 has rudimentary batch processing, which allows you to apply a single set of adjustments to numerous files at the same time and export them all using the same saving choices. You may apply a universal set of modifications to an endless number of photographs using the ‘Luminar Looks’ preset system, and then export the final output in a variety of image formats, as well as Photoshop and PDF files.

Batch processing hasn’t been integrated into the library, therefore the only method to choose photographs for batching is to manually add them using a standard ‘Open File’ dialog box. This appears to be a great wasted opportunity since being able to choose 10 photographs from your collection and then add them to a batch would save a significant amount of time. Fortunately, the Sync Modifications function allows you to apply the same adjustments to a group of chosen photographs in the Library view.
